At first, it sounds like a great idea. Police in The Dallas, Ore., have given some neighborhood watch groups hand-held radar guns so they can catch speeders, who are then sent warning letters.
Anyone who's been subject to the roar of the inconsiderate careening through a subdivision would jump at the chance to put a damper on their churlish behavior. After all, speeders put our children at risk. They endanger our cats, our dogs, our cars, and even our own lives. Who wouldn't want to stop them?
